Final Shows Of 2015 – Part 2

THE FALLEN LEAVESSo the final show of 2015 takes place at The Cumberland Arms in Newcastle and features the very wonderful Fallen Leaves ably supported by the new look Rexine on Friday December 4th.

I’ve been a massive fan of The Fallen Leaves since hearing them played on BBC 6 music back in early 2013 although they’ve actually been going a lot longer than that. This will be the 4th time I’ve promoted them (the first time in Newcastle though!) and they are already booked for a return to The Westgarth in Middlesbrough in April 2016.

Formed by original Subway Sect guitarist Rob Symmons along with Rob Green on vocals the band also features Mathew Karass on bass and Bill Lewington on drums. Based in Richmond/London they are described as a “garage rock” type band but basically its fast pop music with a raw edge, passion rather than precision, “Punk Rock For Gentlemen” no less.

Influences range from The Who, The Kinks,The Rolling Stones & the Sixties garage scene but more recently things like Wild Billy Childish. They create a mix of Sixties pop crossed with a punk urgency for a truly enjoyable authentic live experience

Here’s Trouble from one of the shows I promoted at The Westgarth in Middlesbrough.

The band have just released a limited edition single entitled “Out In A Forest” on Market Square records & very fine & dandy it is too. If you’re quick & head over here you can have a listen & if there’s any  left grab a copy.

Finally “Revenge Is Sweet” from the same Westgarth Show.

Support for the night comes from Newcastle based Rexine who have undergone significant line up changes but have come back stronger than ever and make a dark abstract indie punk noise.  It’ll be great to see them again.
