Lots have happened since my last post. I really should try & be more disciplined but hey ho!
The Len Price 3 played a blinding set in the downstairs room of the Westgarth. The room was chock-a-block. People had travelled far & wide to see the band & they didn’t disappoint turning in a blinding set of adrenaline fuelled pop. Ably supported by local lads The Lemontops this was a really great show.
On Friday 1st of May a true double-header show as Spear Of Destiny and Spizz Energi rolled into town in the biggest tour bus I’ve seen. It was panic stations for a while as to where it was going to get parked but it all worked out in the end. The show was started off by local punksters The Antiseptics who got things moving with a surprisingly varied set. By the time Spizz came onstage the walls were starting to drip and the heat levels were rising. Spizz got everyone bouncing with all the classic songs backed up by a really accomplished band.
Spear Of Destiny hit the stage and worked through a set full of old classics & new songs. I’ve seen Spear many many times over the years & I’d say this performance was right up there with the best including the finale of Liberator which saw the crowd burst into a frenzy of dancing stage front. Just like the old days. This show was sold out way in advance and The Westgarth was fuller than I’ve ever seen it – a great night all round.
No time to rest as on Saturday The Space Agency returned to Stockton for another show in The Green Room. Last years debut show was a sell out and this one went the same way. A much more relaxed show than the previous nights but equally enjoyable as the band, featuring our own Simon Jones played nearly 90 mins of their jangley Shadows meets Surf punk instrumentals.
So 3 great shows have taken place & 1 new one announced – more of that later.
